Sgt. George McLean with a colleague outside a British army tent. McLean, who enlisted with the Royal Innniskilling Fusiliers and later served as a signaller with the Royal Engineers, 36th Ulster Division during World War I, is pictured with a colleague standing outside a tent containing wirless equipment in a field in France. Annotations on the photograph read 'La Tente Marconi. Somewhere in France. May 1916'. [McLean in his diary entries for the summer of 1916 makes numerous references to 'La Tente Marconi'].
