Father Sebastian O'Brien's crucifix
A crucifix belonging to Father Sebastian O'Brien, given to the donor's grandfather Patrick Canice Kenny when he was an altar boy in Church Street Church, Dublin. Mr. Kenny passed the crucifix to his family in the 1980s in an envelope with handwritten descriptions of the object itself, as well as notes on O'Brien's ownership of it and other priests who worked with him.
Fr. Sebastian O’Brien OFM Cap. (1867-1931), was a Dublin-born Capuchin friar who, together with his colleagues, ministered to the condemned leaders of the Easter Rising, among them Joseph Plunkett, in the hours before his execution in Kilmainham Jail on 4 May 1916.
