National Gallery of Ireland
The National Gallery of Ireland houses over 15,000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures and works on paper, dating from the early thirteenth century to the twentieth century. The collection boasts an impressive range of masterpieces by artists from the major European schools as well as the world's most comprehensive collection of Irish art. Established by an Act of Parliament in 1854, the Gallery has increased in size over the years with the addition of new wings (in 1903, 1968 and 2002). In 2011, a new Master Development Plan commenced which is scheduled for completion in 2016. More information can be found on the National Gallery website.
