National Museum of Ireland

The National Museum of Ireland is the custodian of Ireland’s portable heritage, including archaeology, decorative and applied arts, history, ethnography, folklife and natural history. Established in 1877, the museum includes the scientific collections of the Royal Dublin Society and the collection of antiquities assembled by the Royal Irish Academy amongst over 4 million objects in its care.

The organisation aims to be an outward-looking, people-focused and creative national museum. It is our mission to collect, care for, manage and interpret the collections we hold in trust and make them accessible to everyone for inspiration, learning and enjoyment.
